Updates 3/4/12

Hello everyone.

My apologies, but the news will be quite short today. I got nothing done yesterday, and have a lot to catch up. I also am a bit distracted, as I am concerned about possible funding for graduate school next year. Heavy mind today.

Here's the news.

-- Occupy West Palm Beach is looking for another Occupation spot, after police arrived on Friday and told them they were trespassing and needed to leave immediately. They had apparently violated rules by cooking outdoors, among other things. A letter from the City Administrator said the Occupiers are "a threat to public health, safety, and welfare."

-- Occupy Dame Street has given the city of Dublin official notice that they will not be leaving the plaza before St. Patrick's Day. The deadline for their response was yesterday. A spokesperson for the city has said the it is really the bank's plaza, so the responsibility falls on the bank rather than the city. The city is still hoping the protesters will move the Occupation in time for the ceremonies.

-- A rally held by white supremacists in Duluth turned into a snowball fight and shouting match when counter-protesters turned up to confront the group. Some of the counter-protesters were Occupiers, many of whom carried signs against the KKK and Nazi groups. The rally was started by the Supreme White Alliance group, in response to an anti-racism campaign meant to draw attention to racial inequality. The two groups had a face-off for about 30 minutes before the shouting erupted, and 4 people were arrested, seemingly all from the counter-protest group.

That's all I have time for today.
